Schrannenplatz | Weekly Market & Parking
The Schrannenplatz in Neuburg an der Donau is a place where everyday life, shopping experience, and event character visibly overlap. Officially, the city describes the square as the central meeting point of the lower town; here, gastronomy, trade, and the weekly market held twice a week bring life and constant foot traffic to the cityscape. At the same time, the Schrannenplatz is a recurring event location throughout the year, for example, for the Christmas market and for the spring and autumn fairs. This very mix makes the square interesting for both locals and visitors: it is not just a name on the city map, but a functional center for errands, encounters, and seasonal experiences. Therefore, those who visit the Schrannenplatz experience not just a single attraction, but an urban space that reinvents itself over many months while remaining clearly identifiable as a city center address. Weekly Market at Schrannenplatz: Opening Hours, Offerings, and Atmosphere
The weekly market is one of the strongest search and usage arguments surrounding the Schrannenplatz. According to the city of Neuburg, it takes place every Wednesday and Saturday; the sales times are year-round between 6:30 AM and 12:30 PM. If a market day falls on a holiday, the market is moved to the preceding working day. The city emphasizes the high importance of regionality and diversity: at the market, there are food products from local production, including meat, fish, eggs, cheese, flowers, honey, as well as fruits and vegetables. Additionally, regional specialties are highlighted, such as potatoes from the Donaumoos or asparagus from the neighboring Schrobenhausen. For visitors, this means a reliably planable mix of freshness, short shopping time, and regional connection. Thus, the Schrannenplatz becomes a place on two fixed weekdays where practical shopping and urban lifestyle intertwine. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/wochenmarkt_id49302))
In SEO searches like "schrannenplatz weekly market" or "schrannenplatz neuburg," the question often arises whether the visit can be combined with other errands. The official information supports this: the market is not organized as an isolated solution but as part of a lively square, which, according to the city, is flanked by gastronomy and trade. So, those who stroll through the market in the morning find a clearly structured urban space with a short duration of stay, fresh offerings, and direct access to other city center functions. From a visitor's perspective, this is practical: the early market hours are tailored to the classic shopping rhythm, and the wide range reduces the need to visit multiple locations. This results in a place that is particularly attractive for uncomplicated errands, weekly routines, and quick contact with regional providers. The weekly market is therefore not just an event but the most regular and everyday profile of the Schrannenplatz. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/wochenmarkt_id49302))
Parking at the Schrannenplatz Underground Garage: 45 Parking Spaces and City Center Options
A common search motive is "schrannenplatz parking" or "underground garage schrannenplatz." Officially, the city of Neuburg lists the Schrannenplatz underground garage as a parking facility with 45 spaces. It is located on Weinstraße in 86633 Neuburg and is open continuously on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. For visitors, this is a clear advantage because the parking option is directly linked to a central city center destination and is not limited to specific times or usage days. Especially during market visits, Christmas market visits, or fair dates, a continuously available underground garage is an important comfort factor. The city delineates responsibilities: the municipal utilities are responsible for underground garages, parking garages, and parking decks, while above-ground parking spaces are managed by the regulatory office. This makes the city's parking logic transparent and shows that the Schrannenplatz is integrated into a regulated, well-connected parking system in the city center. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/leben/parken-in-neuburg/tiefgarage-schrannenplatz_id1789))
Those looking for additional parking options will find further relevant locations in the official overview map. Among others, the Fürstgarten underground garage with 135 spaces, the Spitalplatz underground garage with 60 spaces, the Am Graben parking lot with 90 spaces, the parking garage at the Parkbad with 240 spaces, as well as the larger areas Schlösslwiese and Brandlbad are mentioned. For the Schrannenplatz itself, there are not only direct parking spaces available but also alternative options in the city center. This is particularly helpful on days with high demand, such as during the weekly market, Christmas market, or fair. Practically speaking, this means: visitors can plan their visit more flexibly, and the square remains realistically accessible even with high traffic. From an SEO perspective, the combination of "schrannenplatz neuburg parking," "underground garage schrannenplatz," and "schrannenplatz city center" covers exactly what many users are looking for in a genuine local search. Christmas Market and Fair: The Most Important Events at Schrannenplatz
The Schrannenplatz is not only a place for weekly shopping but also one of the most important event locations in the city. The official Christmas market at Schrannenplatz is described by the city as a colorful and eventful companion through Advent. On the square, there are stalls with mulled wine, hearty dishes, gingerbread, South Tyrolean schnitz art, and other handicrafts; in addition, there is a supporting program on the market stage with offerings ranging from puppet theater to musical performances. This mix of culinary delights, craftsmanship, and stage program gives the square a different, significantly more emotional use during the Advent season than in the normal weekly routine. Therefore, those searching for "schrannenplatz christmas market" rightly expect a place where urban atmosphere and seasonal staging go hand in hand. The Schrannenplatz fulfills this image precisely because it is explicitly designated by the city as an event location for the Neuburg Christmas. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/weihnachtsmarkt-auf-dem-schrannenplatz_id38761))
The fair also significantly shapes the square throughout the year. The spring fair is described by the city as a spring and autumn event at Schrannenplatz, where established showmen offer a mix of rides and culinary treats. The highlight is each Sunday: then the four-day event is complemented by a flea market in the city center streets and a Sunday with extended shopping hours. For visitors, this is a clear added value because it allows for a combination of entertainment, city stroll, and shopping in one appointment. In combination with the weekly market, this creates a very dense usage profile: the Schrannenplatz is present on a weekly basis and is firmly anchored multiple times in the annual calendar. For this reason, it is relevant not only for classic event searches but also for inquiries about programs, event calendars, and city life. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/fruehjahrs-dult_id49409))
Schrannenplatz as a Meeting Point of the Lower Town
The official description of the city is particularly important for classification: the Schrannenplatz is the central square of the lower town. This formulation makes it clear that the place takes on a clear function within the urban structure. It is not simply an open space but an urban hub where everyday traffic from trade and gastronomy connects with fixed events such as the weekly market and Christmas market. The city's webcam page underscores this role again by designating the Schrannenplatz as a meeting point for all generations and relating it to gastronomy, trade, and the weekly market held twice a week. For visitors, this is a good orientation signal: those heading to the Schrannenplatz are moving into an area where short errands, breaks, shopping, and city observation can be combined. In this sense, the square is both functionally and atmospherically a link within the city center structure. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/leben/webcams))
From a practical perspective, this also explains why the Schrannenplatz is often combined with other city center terms in search queries. Those searching for "schrannenplatz access" or "schrannenplatz city center" usually want to know whether the place is easily accessible, whether one can linger there, and whether the visit can be integrated into a city tour. The official pages answer these questions indirectly very clearly: there is a continuous underground garage, a regularly open weekly market, a free Wi-Fi offering, and recurring events throughout the year. This results in a place that reliably functions in everyday life while also offering a significantly higher level of experience during special occasions. This dual role makes the Schrannenplatz important for Neuburg: it is neither just a market nor just an event space, but a permanently used public space with varying intensity. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/leben/parken-in-neuburg/tiefgarage-schrannenplatz_id1789))
Wi-Fi, Visitor Tips, and Practical Information for Your Stay
A often underestimated advantage of the Schrannenplatz is the free Wi-Fi. The city offers the hotspot WLAN-Neuburg_HOTSPLOTS here, which can be used for free for 24 hours with up to 2,000 MB of traffic per day. This is practical for visitors who want to quickly access information on the go, check appointments, verify directions, or share photos and impressions. Especially in a place that is so strongly characterized by market visits and events, a public Wi-Fi offering sensibly complements the infrastructure. It makes the stay more flexible and supports spontaneous decisions on-site, such as when one wants to switch between parking, market visits, and another city center destination. For search queries like "schrannenplatz wifi," this is clear and genuine information that concretely enhances the value of the stay at the square. ([neuburg-donau.de](https://www.neuburg-donau.de/schrannenplatz-wlan_id3644))
Taken together, the official information presents a very clear picture: the Schrannenplatz is a city center location with high usage diversity, planable market dates, seasonal events, a continuously open underground garage, and additional Wi-Fi comfort. Therefore, visitors are particularly recommended to visit when they want to combine multiple goals: weekly shopping, city stroll, event visit, or simply a short stay in the lively center of the lower town. Those coming on a Wednesday or Saturday will experience the weekly market in its regular form; those arriving in spring or autumn will encounter the fair; and those stopping by during Advent will find the Christmas market with its stage program and typical market stalls. Thus, the Schrannenplatz fulfills exactly the profile that many users are searching for: a reliable, well-organized, and atmospherically rich place in the heart of Neuburg. The "Schrannenplatz" with the market hall (with the somewhat sparsely maintained toilet in the basement) and the surrounding shops is a bit of the heart of Neuburg, where various events like weekly markets, city festivals, Dult, and the wine festival with the partner city Sète take place. During the pre-Christmas season, there is an annual Christmas market with an ice rink. If the weather is nice enough, you can also enjoy coffee outside here. As they say, it’s nice to be here.

Small but beautiful square, from there you can quickly reach the individual little alleys

H I was at the market hall today, the vaccination center Bavaria was conducting vaccinations. It was pleasant, you could make a few jokes, if you still need to get vaccinated, I can only recommend this one.
