Discover Curious Exhibits at the Erding Museum
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Erding Museum invites you to a special tour of the special exhibition “Without Words. Beautiful, Curious and Mysterious”. From 2 PM, collection manager Elisabeth Boxberger will present selected objects and provide surprising insights into everyday culture, fashion history, and the local history of Erding.
A black silk dress and its mysterious story
At the center of attention is an elegant black silk dress. The tour will explore who once wore it and on what occasions it was used. This textile exhibit vividly illustrates social roles, fashion ideas, and past ways of life.
A vanished place on canvas
Another highlight is a painting that depicts a place in Erding that has now disappeared. The view of the historical cityscape connects the contemplation of art with city history and reveals changes in the urban space. Thus, the cultural heritage of the city becomes tangible through a single image.
Beautiful, precious, and potentially dangerous
Historical table decorations are also on the agenda. The seemingly decorative pieces were considered “très chique” about a hundred years ago, but could have posed dangers. The collection manager explains the background and shows how tastes, manners, and safety concepts have changed over time.
An exploration experience for culture enthusiasts
The event combines expert object presentation with sensory impressions from fashion, art, and everyday history. Visitors will experience a varied museum tour, discover unusual details, and gain new perspectives on the local history and cultural heritage of Erding. The museum itself presents archaeological finds, city history, art, craftsmanship, and everyday stories across several levels.
Conclusion: Museum history with surprising turns
“Curious Exhibits at Sundays in the Museum” promises an entertaining cultural enrichment with extraordinary objects and knowledgeable explanations. Those who wish to experience Erding from a new perspective and discover history visually will find an inspiring Sunday program at the Erding Museum. Secure your spot for this special tour.
